History

1954 - BCSI founded by Paul Marchessault in Granny's basement.

Early 1970’s - Jim Marchessault envisioned automating the entire process, from order entry to invoicing, by allowing the customer to telecommunicate the order details into a central system. BCSI contracted with computer programmers to begin this large undertaking.

1975 - The company moved to a larger location, and continued to develop and refine the automated method in which business stationery products were produced.

Late 1970’s - BCSI automated prepress and became one of the first printers with direct-to-plate technology. Typesetting, paste-up and camera-work were completely eliminated!

1983 - BCSI received our first electronic order from Pacific Bell via a modem.

1989 - BCSI was featured in the Wall Street Journal on August 31st for engaging in e-commerce.

1996 - BCSI built and moved to our current location at 3200 143rd Circle, Burnsville, Minnesota.

1999 - A second facility, Stationery-Print.Com (SPC), was opened in Agawam, Massachusetts, to help speed shipping for customers on the East Coast. Dave Wibbels, BCSI’s production manager for 17 years, moved to Massachusetts and became SPC’s Vice President.

2004 - BCSI makes significant investment in equipment, with the addition of a Heidelberg 4 Color Speedmaster in our Minnesota facility.

2005 - BCSI reaches 5.19 Sigma quality level, with two-thirds of our customers having zero errors during a 3-month period.

2006 - BCSI invests in a Heidelberg 4 Color Speedmaster for our Massachusetts facility and a second Speedmaster (2 Color) for our Minnesota facility.

2007 - BCSI becomes a member of ASI (Ad Specialty Institute) to become a supplier for promotional products.

Sept 2007 - BCSI breaks ground on a significant addition to our building in Burnsville, MN.

Nov 2007 - BCSI purchases a PresstekDI for 4 color process production, increasing capacity and efficiency.

Mar 2008 - BCSI is now FSC certified.

Mar 2008 - BCSI's President, James Marchessault, is named Small Business Person of the Year for Minnesota.
